How to Create TimeLine in Facebook | New Features

yesterday Facebook has introduced some interesting changes like TimeLine
which will create up a complete a new world right in your Facebook
profile.

- Login to your Facebook account
- Follow this link to get started with creation of Facebook TimeLine (You are just creating a Facebook app for that).
- If you are registering for developer for the first time the system will ask you to grant access, click on Allow to go further.
- In the right top corner, Click on “Create New App”.
- Complete the “App Display Name” & “App Namespace” with the names of your choice (it doesn’t matter) and check the “I agree to the Platform Privacy Policy” to accept the terms and click on Continue for the next step.
- Enter the CAPTCHA and click Submit.
- Upon creation of the App in the left navigation pane click on “Open Graph”.
- In this screen fill up the spaces “People Can” & “A” with favorite terms/things (again it doesn’t matter) and click on “Get Started”.
- In this page, scroll down and click on “Save Changes and Next”.
- Click on Save and Finish (This page one may not appear for all).
- Head over to your Home Page and check for “Introducing TimeLine – a New Kind of Profile” and click on “Get It Now” to start with.
- Voila..! you are landed on your New TimeLine page now.

chanted by security suite vendors sounds a lot like "faster scans,
easier to use, better performance," and AVG has released a new version
that it says accomplishes all three. Certainly, the scans are faster, it
does install more quickly, and some tweaks to the interface have made
it easier to view. Two new core security changes will make you safer,
too.

YouTube
Downloader is a popular, free program that enables you to download and
convert online videos (legal content, to which you have the rights) for
later viewing on your desktop or mobile device. It can convert files to
MOV, MP4, 3GP, WMV, AVI, or MP3.
When
you find a video you'd like to download, copy the URL of the video page
and open YouTube Downloader. From there, you'll notice that the program
automatically pastes the URL into the appropriate field. Choose your
desired Download quality (Best Available is a nice option) and your
destination folder, then hit Download. Once your download is finished,
hit the Play tab to watch. The Convert tab lets you export to a
different file format for playing elsewhere, and gives you a convenient
mini editor for making minor alterations before your export. You can
change video volume (or remove audio altogether) and splice footage by
setting specific start and end times.

It's a relatively speedy malware remover, with the quick scan taking
about 8 minutes even with other high-resource programs running. The

Longtime Avira fans will
note that the suites also have undergone a bit of a name change. The
product title "AntiVir" has been dropped, as Avira AntiVir Personal
becomes Avira Free Antivirus, Avira AntiVir Premium becomes Avira
Antivirus Premium, and Avira Premium Security Suite becomes Avira
Internet Security. While product-specific names may work for some
companies because of legacy associations, such as the Norton product
from Symantec, new user confusion has likely forced security suite
makers to streamline their operations.
The suites have also
skippped version 11, perhaps driven by a Spinal Tap-esque fear of
exploding amps, and gone straight to version 12. It's also possible that
the company was thinking of aligning the version number with the
release year, as most security suites released in the fall have version
numbers that reflect the coming year.

Getting into Avira has never been easier, as version 12 debuts a two-click install. allowing for on-the-fly slower or faster playback, and live recording of
streaming video. The toolbars are fully customizable, so you can have
only the buttons you need in the interface, there's AirTunes streaming,
and there's better integration in Gtk environments. Along with the
improvements, VLC continues to offer robust support for a wide range of
video and audio formats, including OGG, MP2, MP3, MP4, DivX, HD codecs
like AES3, Raw Dirac, and even support for playing back zipped files.

Don't let the dull name fool
you: Internet Download Manager is a full-featured package that handles
downloading tasks with aplomb. It conveniently integrates into your
browser, even if you use Mozilla or Opera.
It automatically sorts
incoming files by file type and puts them in the appropriate folder.
Most importantly, it supercharges download speeds (it doubled ours). Its
windowed interface is clean and easy to understand. Power users can
take advantage of the command line interface to resume file transfers,
schedule downloads, connect through dial-up, or log on to
password-protected sites. Experienced users also can limit the number of
connections, the download speeds for specific sites, and even create an
exception list to block specific, user-defined sites.
Other features include
automatic virus checking and the ability to download all files linked to
a page. The new version has a Web spider that can analyze a site and
retrieve, for example, all the images on it.

strikes us as a natural choice for users in need of a trusty transfer
tool. Version 5.11 build 5 added FLV grabber that can be used to
download videos from YouTube, Google Video, MySpaceTV, and other popular
sites.

Virtual DJ is often packaged
with USB-based hardware mixing consoles from the likes of Hercules and
Numark, and, in fact, if you really want to delve into the full array of
features, such devices are going to be a necessity--and they'll require
a $99 license fee to upgrade to the Pro version of the software. That
said, you can download the app for free by itself and make very basic
mixes and playlists.
While the program isn't
specifically geared at newbies, it is intuitive enough for a musically
inclined individual to use right off the bat. Once installed, Virtual DJ
automatically populates a folder tree in the bottom left corner where
you can easily access your music collection. The bottom middle serves as
a tabbed, multifunction area where you can browse tracks, sample music
bites, add effects, and make recordings.
The top of the window is
dominated by two digital turntables, which are distinguished by color:
blue on the left and red on the right. Each one has the ability to cue,
loop, adjust pitch, scratch, and shift (among other features). In the
middle is the mixing console, where you can adjust the gain and master
volume, as well as transition between the two tracks. Once the songs
have been dragged and dropped into the console, a bar along the top
displays the sound waves of each to help with visual mixing. There's
also a video input option that lets you create montages to the music.
The stylish interface and
high number of features score points, but learning how to use the
program is a hit-or-miss proposition. To be perfectly honest, using it
without mixing hardware (that is, just a mouse and keyboard) is a
challenge, and not one we enjoyed, so we recommend hooking up a
compatible USB controller. Also worth a look: the thorough online user
guide.
Virtual DJ is free, fully featured, and well-laid-out. It's a useful option both for aspiring mixers and newbies.
Adobe Flash Player-

There

According to Adobe, the new
Stage3D technology in the new Flash Player brings combined 2D and 3D
acceleration that is up to 1,000 times faster than the previous Flash
iterations. While currently Stage3D is supported only for personal
computers, it should make its way to mobile devices in future Flash
releases. The advancements offered by Stage3D should bring far more
complex graphics development for the player, and allow some developers
to use it as a viable alternative for their projects, especially for
cross-platform efforts.
In addition to accelerated
graphics, Flash 11 now is natively in 64-bit code on all supported
platforms, which will allow it to better integrate with browsers and
plug-ins that are coded in 64-bit. This along with a slew of new
enhancements for developers in terms of security improvements, media
handling, and better JavaScript integration will enhance the player's
use for future development. Flash also comes baked into Google Chrome,
and therefore the Chrome OS that powers Google's Chromebooks.
Mac users take note: Flash
requires OS X 10.6 or later running on an Intel platform since Adobe
removed support for PowerPC Macs in Flash 10.
Although it's possible that
HTML5 will at some point unseat Flash as the dominant code for media on
the Web, that won't happen for a while yet since HTML5 standards haven't
even been finalized. The Flash Player is a must if you want to
experience the Web at its fullest, so users at any level of expertise
should have no qualms about installing or upgrading.
TeamViewer-
Editors' review
TeamViewer is an excellent
screen-sharing and file-transfer app that can be used to facilitate
business collaborations, remotely access a second computer, or help
distraught relatives diagnose and cure computer problems. Along with
being free for noncorporate use, it gives users precisely the tools they
need to share screens securely, send files with a minimum of hassle,
control access rights, and even flip which user has control.
The options available while
you're in control work smoothly. You can maximize the pane that the
other computer's screen is visible in, as well as utilize several smart
options from a drop-down toolbar in the center of the window. A big X
lets you close the connection, while the Actions button lets you switch
who's in control, disable remote input, and reboot remotely. The View
menu hides options to adjust the screen resolution, the optimization
toward speed or quality, and control multiple-monitor displays. New
features that work just as effortlessly as the old ones include VoIP
audio and video conferencing, and integrated teleconferencing. These
features push TeamViewer a notch above the rest because they will work
without requiring firewall reconfiguration.
When you log in, you're
given an access code and a password. Sharing those allows your computer
to be controlled by the level you set it to: remote support,
presentation, file transfer, or VPN. The TeamViewer servers remember
which computers you've connected to, so reconnecting to previously
shared computers happens faster. TeamViewer also has a Web-based
version, for remote connecting to home from public computer. Even the
installation process is impressive. Users can toggle admin rights, can
opt out of running at startup, and can opt into installing the
TeamViewer VPN driver for more secure screen sharing. TeamViewer makes
screen-sharing and file-sharing as fluid and unobtrusive as it should
be, and is a must-have for the home or remote office user.
Mozilla Firefox-

Review:
For those of you who spent
2011 away from the Internet, it's the year that Firefox went from annual
major-point updates to a Chrome-style quick-release cycle. How quick? A
new major version number along with a spate of performance and feature
improvements lands in Firefox stable every six weeks. So, Firefox is on
version 9 at the time this review was written. As a point of comparison,
Chrome is currently on version 16 even though it only launched in 2008.
To put it bluntly: Firefox
has benefited from the rapid-release cycle. Both fixes and features get
out to users faster than before, which puts a safer, sleeker browser in
your hands with fewer delays. A vocal, minuscule minority has
pooh-poohed the increase in version numbers, but that's hardly a
legitimate complaint in a world where mobile apps update silently and
effectively.
These major changes first
landed in Firefox 4, released in March 2011, so we're going to be
referencing it a fair bit. The browser that you can download now is in
the same speed category as its competition; offers many similar features
(stronger in many areas and slightly weaker in others); includes broad,
cross-platform support for hardware acceleration and other "future-Web"
tech and standards; and is a must-have for Android users
(download for Android).

Firefox observers will notice that the browser no longer ships with a
separate icon for Safe Mode. Simply hold down Shift; when you click on

Firefox
automatically installs a Windows 7 taskbar icon if you choose it as
your default browser. Uninstalling the browser does not leave behind any
icons or folders if you choose to remove your settings at the same
time.
A
new feature checks your add-ons to see which ones you installed and
which ones come from third-party vendors, such as security suite makers.
The browser will now ask you if you'd like to disable any of these
third-party add-ons when you upgrade to at least version 8. On top of
that, all future third-party add-ons will be blocked from
autoinstalling. Instead, you'll be presented with the option to allow
them or block them on a per-case basis. This squarely puts Firefox on
the side of the user.
RealPlayer-

These days, a great number
of people are not only finding the majority of their entertainment
online but are also conducting a fair amount of their social lives there
as well. In such times, it's great to have a quick and simple tool for
downloading, editing, sharing, and transferring media. RealPlayer for
Windows already had most of that down, offering a sweeping array of
features, from one-click video downloading to automatic transcoding to
social network sharing. The latest offering focuses mainly on improved
device integration and an even smoother user experience.
RealPlayer has been around
since 1995, which is practically the dawn of the Web. It started as a
basic media player, becoming the preferred embedded app for streaming
audio and video as sites started to offer that functionality, and
eventually morphing into the easy-to-use, fully functioning beast we
have today.
The previous version of
RealPlayer already offered an easy, one-click solution for downloading
unprotected videos for the Web. Another click transcodes those same
videos to your portable device without a bit of extra effort on your
part when it comes to fiddling with tricky digital format settings.
The program also
incorporates a very simple-to-use video-trimming tool that allows you to
select only certain bits of a video to transfer or share, and there are
one-click buttons that let you share with a variety of social sites,
such as Facebook and YouTube. In addition, you have the option to strip
the audio out of the videos and save those as separate files.
The latest version of the
software adds even more devices to the ever-expanding list of compatible
handsets. Plus, RealPlayer now shows USB-connected smartphones and
cameras inside the library in the main app window, allowing users to
quickly and easily transfer content to the devices via drag-and-drop.
Perhaps more compelling, though, is a new back-end feature that
simplifies the process of getting photos and videos off of those devices
and organized on your PC. In our testing, content was slow to load, but
it's a welcome feature nonetheless.
Best of all, you can do all
this for free. RealPlayer only requires a license fee if you want to
upgrade to the Plus version in order to access additional features, such
as H.264 conversion and DVD burning.

First, Skype tackled the
overall user experience of the software. The new Home page integrates a
feed of mood messages from your contacts and yourself, and it offers a
variety of tutorials to help you use the various features of the
service, from making a video call to signing up for a subscription. The
company also aimed to simplify the overall interface in order to make
calling, messaging, screen sharing, and file transferring more intuitive
and easier to navigate. In addition, the contact search screen now
features images and mood messages and offers real-time results.
Skype is also offering a new
group-video-calling feature. According to company data, about 40
percent of all Skype-to-Skype minutes were used on video calling. The
logical step was to provide a feature that allowed users to chat with
more than just one other person. Anyone who downloads version 5 will
have a chance to test out the new functionality for free, though it will
be a paid extra down the line.
The videoconferencing
feature offers a few viewing options. One is the typical side-by-side
screen with participants lined up in equal sizes. Then there's the more
interesting dynamic view, which increases the size of the person doing
most of the talking at any given moment. We got to check this out in a
live demo and can see how it would be particularly useful for business
calls.
The group video screen also
prominently displays the relevant controls along the bottom, as well as a
meter that measures call quality. Skype has added a call quality
manager that gauges audio and video quality during calls. Automatic call
recovery is another new feature that helps users quickly reconnect
calls that are interrupted because of Internet connection problems.
Last but not least, Skype
now has Facebook integrated seamlessly into the interface. A tab along
the top of the screen will take you into your news feed, where you can
update your status as well as start Skype calls with various contacts.

As
an efficiently configured desktop media player, UMPlayer's user
interface can only be so different from other free players without
looking freakish, but its attractive layout has enough simple
differences to make it stand out without screaming, such as its subtle
but effective highlighting of the title and counter section or its
user-selectable toolbar that includes a screenshot tool, DVD player,
quick access to files and Web links, and access to the program's
Preferences, as well as the aforementioned YouTube search box. You can
quickly toggle this toolbar off for a more traditional look, but we
suspect many users will find it handy for daily use. The Help menu
includes FAQs, Tips and Tricks, and Web links; the Skins menu offered
six styles with a link to get more.
The
proof is in the playing with digital media, and UMPlayer didn't
disappoint, even in direct side-by-side comparisons to VLC, our default
media player. We didn't run through the entire list of supported formats
for each player; suffice to say that each does most of what the other
does, and just as well. Few users will notice any difference for most
file types. It comes down to a matter of choice. If VLC has a fault,
it's that it just does too much. If you like the idea of a free,
open-source media player that can handle just about anything but find
VLC a bit overwhelming, give UMPlayer a spin.
